In this research microwave (MW) oven was used as a treatment unit with a power of 900W. There are differences and similarities between microwave heating and conventional heaters. It is not possible to find a general method for wastewater treatment and depends on the content of the inlet water. The basis of good wastewater treatment depends on high efficiency , low cost and easy operation. (Muller et al., 2003 ). Microwave was used in various environmental engineering fields, especially in wastewater application as the fast and effective heating method in the degradation of different organic ingredients and colors (Muller et al,. 2003). Also this is the most effective method for full-scale removal of ammonia nitrate, phosphate and color from municipal wastewater. This radiation has a great potential for removal of nutrients. According to the researches, MW radiation can be used to determine the degree of pollution by chemical oxygen demand (COD) analysis. (Peker, 2007., Samsunlu, 2005). Therefore, in this study, microwave radiation was utilized for the treatment of wastewater originated from an Organized Industrial District in Bursa. It was seen in previous studies that the organic compounds was broken by the microwave. MW treatment can bu used to increase the biodegradability of organic compounds. In addition to power and contact period can be changed to achieve various levels of wastewater treatment. In a laboratory-scale MW unit was run to treat the wastewater that represents the intensive use of the plant. MW irradiation has features such as instantaneous and accurate control of power input and also provides homogenous heating.
